At NorthPaws, we have three resident mini lop rabbits, one buck and his girlfriends.
Our bunnies are free to roam a large outbuilding with plenty of space to exercise and play. We follow section 9 of The Animal Welfare Act 2006, taking steps to ensure our rabbits physical, emotional and social needs are being meet to best of our ability. We believe in continued education and are always learning and adapting to give our rabbits their best lives.
At this time Northpaws are having a break from breeding our bunnies.
However, we are happy to support any of our previous buyers with their current bunnies
Mini lops are exactly what the name implies, small with lopped ears. If you are looking for a friendly family pet, the Mini Lop is definitely a good option. However, the care they need is often misunderstood. Rabbits are not a simple pet, they require as much love, attention and time as a dog or cat. Mini Lops can bond closely with their ‘family’ and they do not thrive if neglected. If you can give the time that is required to properly care for these furry creatures then the Mini Lop in our opinion is an excellent choice.
This rabbit breed was developed in the 1970s and has grown in popularity. They are very intelligent animals and can be trained to use a litter tray and follow simple commands. The more attention received the more affectionate they become. As with all rabbit breeds, they thrive better with companionship, two (or more) is better than one.
The British Rabbit Council recognised nine different lop breeds. The smallest being the Miniature Lops, surprisingly they are smaller than a Dwarf Lop! Confusing is made with the name of this breed as the Americans call them by a different name. However, all lops come in a variety of colours, sizes and are all beautiful in their own way. The Miniature Lop should weigh about 1.6 kg when fully grown. Despite their weight, the Mini Lop will be muscular and have a short and stocky neck. The rounded ears fall over the rabbit’s face and their fur has a soft underlayer.
